The Association for Women in Communications celebrated 100 years as an organization in Seattle at the National Conference on Oct. 15-17, 2009. AWC old and new friends, colleagues and communicators from across the country gathered to Celebrate the Past and Shape the Future.

 

Pattye Moore, consultant, speaker and author, specializing in leadership and brand development was the Keynote speaker for the Opening Session of the conference. From the opening keynote speaker the attendees were launched into two days of professional development sessions, preparing them to shape the future in their communications world.

 

Seattle’s own, Lorraine Howell, media training specialist, executive coach and author, was the AWC Headliner Award winner and JoAnn Huff Albers was presented with the National Georgina MacDougall Davis Award.

 

The conference concluded with the Clarion Reception and Matrix Award/Clarion Dinner. AWC presented the prestigious Clarion Awards to the best in the communications industry. Following the Clarion presentations, Ann Curry, News Anchor, “Today” and Anchor, “Dateline NBC” was presented the AWC International Matrix Award and then inspired all the attendees as she shared her journey as a broadcast journalist.
