Finding a Work-Life Balance

Having difficulty finding the perfect balance between work and life? You’re not alone. Join us for a panel discussion with Christy Broccardo and Tiffany Mathis on the importance of balancing your job, family and friends, community engagements and, most all, time for yourself. We will discuss the value of advocating for yourself, deciding what you’re willing to sacrifice, being present and how to find what works best for you. Michelle Eccles will serve as panel moderator.

Presenters
Christy Broccardo-Grove is Digital Content Manager for Colour Republic, a flower farm in Ecuador serving brands nationwide including Target, Sam’s Club, Walmart, Whole Foods, Safeway and Country Living Magazine. A graphic designer, writer and content marketer, she specializes in email communications, social media, paid advertising, web design and writing for search/SEO. She taught Visual Communications at University of Illinois, where she earned her master's degree. She is a past president and board member for the local Association for Women in Communications, a member of Women of Email, and is a proud mom to daughter Rebecca, and dog Ellie Mae. Tiffany M. E. Mathis serves as the CEO and Executive Director of Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Illinois. Under her leadership, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Illinois has expanded to serve 22 locations. As an engaged community member, Tiffany was appointed by Gov. JB Pritzker to the Board of Trustees for the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum, serves as Commissioner for the Illinois Commission on Volunteerism and Community Service (Serve Illinois), is past president of the Rotary Club of Midtown Springfield, serves on the Board of Trustees for the Hoogland Center for the Arts and is a member of the State Assessment Review Committee for the Illinois State Board of Education. Tiffany graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor of arts degree in psychology at Ashford University. She is a mother to three children, Avery, Nylah and August.

Moderator
Michelle Eccles is the Public Relations Manager for Horace Mann, a financial services company headquartered in Springfield that serves K-12 educators. She leads public relations and thought leadership campaigns, builds and maintains relationships with media and community organizations and is responsible for outreach and grants for the Horace Mann Educators Foundation. In addition, Michelle is the local morning host for Morning Edition on NPR Illinois and is a partner in a video business, NewMac Creative. Michelle is married to Joey McLaughlin, and they are proud parents to Sarah, Jack and Natalie, and their Bugg puppy, Ripley.
