Social media can be a very effective tool to educate the public, provide emergency information to the masses quickly and showcase what an agency or organization is doing. Join us on February 4th as Sgt. Tracy Lillard, aka "Trooper Tracy," with the Illinois State Police discusses her approach to humanizing your voice on social media, creating a strong following to connect and converse with the general public, but more importantly, creating a strong platform to share multiple types of information quickly.
Sgt. Lillard also be sharing her most effective way to utilize social media—by injecting some humor. Tracy was the high school class clown that became a state trooper. Her use of photos, quick wit, ridiculous hashtags and interesting conversation starters have grown her social media following to several hundred thousand. Her innovation and use of humor within the Illinois State Police social media has created a new understanding from the community about what police officers are about. She is humanizing the badge by entertaining, educating the public and sprinkling a bit of humor everywhere.
